Howe Sound

This scenic area features snow-capped peaks, fjord-like bays, crashing waterfalls, and
abundant wildlife including bald eagles and an occasional pod of killer whales. Daytime
temperatures are in the seventies and the water (sea water and lakes) are swimmable!
CHARTER YACHT (Your choice):
1. A 40'-50' monohull-beautiful teak interior and a quick turn of speed. She is a contemporary
performance-oriented cruiser that delivers superb handling under both power and sail. The interior features up
to five separate cabins, each with their own head and shower, huge galley, Nav station and comfortable main
salon. GPS, autopilot, cabin heater, refrigeration, stereo and roller furling are just some of the amenities. She
will accommodate up to eight plus an instructor.
2. The Venezia 42 Catamaran: Fast, comfortable, and spacious are the trademarks of this exciting Catamaran.
She boasts four private double staterooms with two private baths and she does not heel. ASA Cruising
Multihull certification can be achieved.

This is a FLOTILLA CRUISE. You have two choices:
1. Come on Mike's boat for instruction. Mike will also be leading and guiding the flotilla, showing you where to
go.
2. If you are ASA or US Sailing Certified through Bareboat Chartering, you can charter your own yacht (this
must be arranged by PSSI), but you will have the comfort and security of going along with Mike, who will be
available for guidance and consultation. Your cost is the charter of the yacht plus a $350 flotilla fee paid to
PSSI.

INSTRUCTOR:
Michael Rice, owner of Puget Sound Sailing Institute, will be the onboard instructor. Mike has sailed over
80,000 nautical miles and taught thousands to sail and navigate. He is Coast Guard licensed, an ASA certified
instructor through Celestial Navigation and is an ASA Instructor Evaluator. He was also named ASA
Instructor of the Year six times. Joining Mike will be Bruce Cunningham, ASA and PSSI instructor and owner
of the Venezia 42. Since 1985, Mike has been running successful trips like this, including destinations in the
Caribbean, Tahiti, Sea of Cortez, Mexico and the Pacific Northwest.

ITINERARY:
Sunday, July 20 at 6 PM: Arrive at Vancouver, BC and board your yacht.
Monday, July 21 - Saturday, July 26: Sail up the challenging Strait of Georgia passing Howe Sound and the
Sunshine Coast, returning to Vancouver via the Gulf Islands while you sharpen your skills in deep water
anchoring, navigation and a thousand sailing subjects from knot-tying to the nuances of sail shape!

ACTIVITIES:
The possibilities are endless! Along with the continuous, excellent sailing and navigation instruction provided
by Mike (celestial navigation practice available by request), some time will be set aside for vacation type
activities - sunbathing, swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, reading, relaxing, fishing, hiking, informal racing,
or just plain having fun!

COST:
$1,500 per person. This price includes yacht charter, instruction and food while aboard (two dinners ashore
not included). Meals en route and beverages aboard are not included. Prices subject to change. Transportation
to Vancouver, BC also not included.

PAYMENT SCHEDULE:
Twenty-five percent payment is due at the time you sign up and $100 of this is non-refundable. A second fifty
percent is due April 30th, 2008 and no refunds are available after this date. Final twenty-five percent is due
June 1st, 2008, which is the last day to sign up.

CERTIFICATION:
Puget Sound Sailing Institute is an American Sailing Association sail training facility that offers Basic Sailing
through Offshore Passagemaking certification. You can qualify for up to two certifications or you can just come
along for the ride, or anything in between. You decide!
